Overview
Houston Physicians Hospital is hiring a Full Time MRI/CT Technologist. Welcome to Houston Physicians Hospital! This multimodality position is accountable for performing quality MRI and CT imaging with advanced technical knowledge while maintaining a strong focus on patient care. The role provides expertise for all ages from neonatal/newborn to adults, with patient acuity ranging from stable outpatients to critically ill patients on full life support.
Responsibilities- General Clinical Practice
- Know and demonstrate proficiency of all MRI and CT examinations.
- Maintain the safety of the MRI and CT suite in conjunction with patients and multidisciplinary staff.
- Evaluate examination orders for pertinent clinical information and assess patient needs and exam requirements with the radiologist.
- Recognize emergent patient conditions.
- Coordinate critical patient transport with appropriate nursing personnel as applicable.
- Collaborate with Patient Services and anesthesia as needed.
- Ability to work independently.
- Provide a positive environment for employees to seek their highest potential and provide appropriate information and instruction to patients and families.
- Demonstrate competency and proficiency in performing all MRI and CT procedures as identified in the MRI/CT tech competency.
- Identify anatomical orientation, sequencing of images and verify accurate patient identification for records and archiving.
- Assess, select, prepare and administer contrast materials according to best clinical practices.
- Demonstrate competency and safety in the MRI and CT suites.
- Assess patient condition and preserve safety through proper immobilization techniques.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient and facility information.
- Care of Environment and Equipment: ensure supplies and equipment for patient care are stored in an organized and efficient manner; maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment.
- Information Processing: document patient information accurately in the computer system; perform required computer operations including PACS; verify accurate charge capture for procedures; transcribe physician orders accurately and address unclear orders appropriately.
- Quality Improvement and Safety: report safety hazards; assist in identifying indicators for the department’s quality improvement programs; discuss difficult cases with radiologists to reduce callbacks; initiate occurrence reports when problems are identified.
- Performs other duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ARRT required
- MRI and/or CT certification preferred
- State registration if required by respective state
- BLS Certified
- 2-3 years MRI experience
- Clinical expertise and competency in cross-sectional anatomy
- Venipuncture skills
- Ability to handle critical care situations with high stress
- Willing to cross-train into X-ray
