Job Summary
This position will be responsible for the provision of drug therapy and pharmaceutical education to the customers under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The services must be of the highest quality, cost effective and delivered in an efficient and professional manner.
Responsibilities- Proactively work toward and achieve goals set in previous evaluations; communicate progress and request assistance as needed.
- Make delivery and pickup rounds to nursing units as required.
- Fill medication orders for checking by a pharmacist; deliver tubes to nursing units after pharmacist checking.
- Process discharges and transfers (e.g., cart fill, pickup, and credit discharge medications for IV technicians).
- Process IVs, chemo therapies, and TPNs; reconcile these therapies.
- Restock work area and set medication carts for pharmacist checking.
- Generate computer reports and deliver them to nursing units.
- Process specialty drug boxes such as L&D boxes; check assigned areas for expiration dates.
- Maintain a neat and clean work area.
- Comply with hospital and department policies, including attendance, scheduling, punctuality, and job duty completion according to schedule or workflow.
- Ensure inventory control and formulary maintenance by listing shortages, charging and crediting medications appropriately, and communicating with purchasing manager to maintain adequate stock.
- Assist in cross‑training of co‑workers, orient new employees, aid colleagues in problem‑solving, and complete other tasks as needed; communicate problems to supervisor or assistant DOP; fulfill educational development by attending required department in‑services.
- High School Graduate / GED
- (PHARM-Intern) Pharmacist - Intern, or (CPhT) Certified Pharmacy Technician, or (Pharm Tech) Pharmacy Technician License
- IV Therapy, or (BCSCP) Compounded Sterile Preparations Pharmacy Specialty
- No Travel Required
- 1 year experience required
