Job Summary
This Pharmacy Technician II position is responsible for the provision of drug therapy and pharmaceutical education to customers under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The services must be the highest quality, cost‑effective, and delivered efficiently and professionally.
Responsibilities- The employee proactively works toward and achieves goals set in the previous evaluation period and regularly communicates with the manager about progress or needs for assistance.
- Makes delivery and pickup rounds to nursing units, as required.
- Fills medication orders for pharmacist checking and delivers tubes or medications to nursing units after R.Ph. checking.
- Processes discharges and transfers (e.g., cart fill, pickup, and credit discharge medication).
- Processes IVs, chemo, and TPNs; reconciles IVs, chemo, and TPNs.
- Restocks work area and maintains a neat and clean environment.
- Sets daily medication carts for pharmacist checking and delivers the carts after checking.
- Repackages non‑unit dose medications.
- Generates computer reports and delivers reports to nursing units.
- Processes specialty drug boxes (e.g., L&D boxes).
- Checks assigned areas for expiration dates.
- Assists in cross‑training and orientation of co‑workers and helps co‑workers with problem‑solving and task completion.
- Communicates problems to the supervisor or Assistant DOP and attends required department in‑services for educational development.
- Complies with hospital and department policies, including attendance, scheduling, punctuality, and job duty completion within the required timeframe.
- Ensures inventory control and formulary maintenance, including listing shortages, appropriate charging, and collaborating with the purchasing manager to maintain adequate stock.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Pharmacist‑Intern (PHARM‑Intern), Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), or Pharmacy Technician License (Pharm Tech).
- IV Therapy or Compounded Sterile Preparations Pharmacy Specialty (BCSCP).
- No travel required.
- 1 year of experience required.
