Hospitalist Operations Manager

This role serves as the primary liaison between hospitalist providers, hospital leadership, clinical staff, and administrative teams to ensure efficient operations, exceptional patient care, regulatory compliance, and achievement of organizational goals.
The Hospitalist Operations Manager oversees provider scheduling, operational workflows, performance metrics, quality initiatives, physician onboarding, and hospital partnerships while driving continuous process improvement and financial performance across the hospitalist service line.
Operational Leadership
- Manage daily operations of the hospitalist program across assigned facilities.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), nursing leadership, and hospital administrators to ensure operational excellence.
- Develop and implement workflows that improve efficiency, patient throughput, and care coordination.
- Identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions to optimize performance.
- Monitor operational trends and provide recommendations to leadership.
Provider Management & Scheduling
- Coordinate physician and APP schedules to ensure adequate clinical coverage.
- Maintain call schedules and manage coverage needs, including last-minute staffing adjustments.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, and orientation of new providers.
- Serve as a resource for hospitalists and APPs regarding operational issues and organizational policies.
- Assist leadership with provider engagement, retention, and performance management initiatives.
Quality & Performance Improvement
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
- Length of Stay (LOS)
- Readmission Rates
- Patient Satisfaction Scores
- Documentation Compliance
- Throughput Metrics
- Provider Productivity
- Support quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
- Analyze operational and clinical performance data and present findings to leadership.
- Collaborate with providers and hospitals to achieve quality and value-based care objectives.
Financial Management
- Assist with budget development and operational expense management.
- Monitor productivity, staffing costs, and performance metrics to optimize financial outcomes.
- Review operational reports and identify opportunities to improve revenue cycle performance.
- Support contract management and service line growth initiatives.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies.
- Support provider compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate audits and accreditation activities as needed.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation and reporting.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital executives, medical staff leaders, nursing leadership, and community stakeholders.
- Represent CLS Health in meetings with hospital partners and committees.
- Address operational concerns and facilitate collaborative problem-solving among stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of patient-centered care and operational excellence.

Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field required.
- Master's degree (MHA, MBA, MPH, or related healthcare field) preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of healthcare operations experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership or management experience.
- Experience supporting hospital medicine, acute care services, physician practices, or healthcare service line operations strongly preferred.
- Experience working within hospital settings and collaborating with physicians and executive leadership preferred.
