Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse (CVOR RN)

Pay: $38.03/hr - $57.05/hr

Shift & Schedule: Days | No Weekends | On-Call Required
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse (CVOR RN) to provide specialized perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular and vascular surgical procedures. This role supports a high-volume heart program and requires expertise in maintaining sterile technique, coordinating complex surgical procedures, and delivering exceptional patient care throughout the perioperative process.
Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments for cardiovascular and vascular procedures.

• Perform comprehensive preoperative patient assessments and verification processes.

• Facilitate surgical safety protocols, including procedural time-outs.

• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, and surgical team members.

• Provide intraoperative nursing support during cardiovascular and vascular procedures.

• Monitor patient status and respond appropriately to clinical changes during surgery.

• Document patient care, implant information, and procedural details accurately.

• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.

• Assist with room preparation, equipment setup, and surgical case turnover.

• Participate in on-call coverage and emergency cardiovascular surgical procedures.
Required Qualifications

• Active Texas RN License or Compact RN License.

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.

• Current BLS Certification (AHA).

• Current ACLS Certification (AHA).

• Minimum 1 year of CVOR RN experience in an acute care setting

OR

• Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room RN experience with willingness to cross-train into CVOR.

• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices and sterile technique.
Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

• CNOR Certification.

• Experience with open-heart, cardiovascular, vascular, and hybrid surgical procedures.

• Experience in high-volume cardiovascular surgery programs.

• Strong teamwork and critical-thinking skills.
