Description

Care for Kids is dedicated to providing in-person urgent care, primary care, telemedicine, and School Med services for children in K-12 schools across Texas. Our mission is to revolutionize pediatric healthcare delivery, ensuring equitable access and quality care for all children. Join us and make a lasting impact on children’s health and well-being.

Position Overview

We are seeking Nurse Practitioners /Physician Assistants who thrive in high-volume, fast-paced pediatric urgent care and who specifically prefer working evenings, weekends, and holidays. As our clinical operations grow, we are intentionally building a dedicated urgent care team that keeps our clinics fully covered seven days a week, including during peak-demand periods.

If you are a provider who is energized by urgent care’s pace and impact and you want a schedule built around evenings and weekends rather than away from them — this role is designed for you.

What You’ll Do
  • Deliver high-quality, age-appropriate urgent care to pediatric patients during evening, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • Perform patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment initiation, and independent clinical decision-

  • Collaborate with medical directors and site physicians under established clinical protocols
  • Execute urgent care procedures including laceration repair, initial fracture management, and reduction of nursemaid’s elbow
  • Maintain consistent availability for evening and weekend coverage to prevent clinic closures
  • Contribute to a stable, sustainable urgent care operation that supports the broader clinical mission
Schedule Commitment — Urgent Care First
  • This role is specifically designed for clinicians who want to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as their primary schedule — not as an occasional add-on. Shift coverage includes:

  • Weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday, including peak-demand days)
  • Holiday coverage on a rotating basis
  • High-volume urgent care periods throughout the year
  • Part-time, and PRN positions are available across Houston, DFW, and Austin locations.
  • Must be able to work 48 hrs per month
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner (PNP or FNP) or Physician Assistant, with a focus on pediatric care
  • Urgent care or fast-paced clinical experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in urgent care procedures: laceration repair, initial fracture management, reduction of nursemaid’s elbow
  • Active, unencumbered Texas RN or PA license
  • Active national certification: PNP-BC, FNP-BC (Texas Board of Nursing recognized) or NCCPA certification
  • Current PALS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory guidelines (OSHA, CLIA)
  • Genuine preference and enthusiasm for evening, weekend, and holiday urgent care schedules
