Position Overview
Resident Advocate Evening C – non‑exempt;
Client Services Department, reports to Shelter Manager
B.
Pay: $41,000 per year ($19.71 per hour).
Hours- 40 hours weekly:
Sunday – Off;
Monday – Off;
Tuesday – 4 pm to 11:30 pm;
Wednesday – 4 pm to 12 am;
Thursday – 3 pm to 11 pm;
Friday – 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm;
Saturday – 4 pm to 12:30 am or as necessary.
- Provide crisis intervention to residents and hotline callers.
- Oversee safety, security, and general welfare of adults and children in the shelter during shift.
- Orient residents to shelter guidelines, procedures, and ensure adherence.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident records and shelter location.
- Accept, record, and store donations properly.
- Attend and contribute to shelter and combined staff meetings.
- Oversee shelter cleanliness, including checking chores and reassigning as needed.
- Submit maintenance requests for equipment and building repairs.
- Check call notes and retrieve client messages.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Entry‑level; minimum of a 4‑year degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Human Resources, or comparable experience.
- Must pass a criminal background check, motor‑vehicle report, and reference checks.
- Must have a clean driving record, be insured, and provide proof of personal automobile insurance.
- Drivers must be over 21 and have no more than 2 moving violations in three years (or 1 for ages 21‑25).
- Ability to lift/carry/move a minimum of 40 lbs. for an extended distance.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills, encouraging residents to pursue positive change.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize changing workload, and make independent decisions for residents, the shelter, and the agency.
- Sensitivity to family violence and sexual assault issues, remaining calm in crises.
- Understanding of residential programs and dynamics of communal living.
