Site Agent - Highways

Location: Winchester & Chichester

Contract: 3–4 Months

Start Date: Immediate

Hours: Day Shifts

Rate: £400.00–£500.00 per shift (DOE)

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Site Agent to join a busy civil engineering project across Winchester and Chichester on an immediate-start contract.

This is a hands-on position where you'll take ownership of day-to-day site operations, leading the safe and efficient delivery of compound set-up, earthworks and pond installation works. Working closely with the wider project team, you'll ensure works are completed on programme, within budget and to the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the site, ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently.
  • Oversee compound establishment, earthworks and pond installation activities.
  • Supervise direct labour, subcontractors, plant and site resources.
  • Plan and coordinate labour, materials and equipment to maximise productivity.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.
  • Monitor progress against the construction programme and project budget.
  • Deliver site briefings, toolbox talks and daily coordination meetings.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, engineers and project stakeholders.
  • Resolve on-site issues quickly to keep the project moving forward.
What We're Looking For Essential
  • Proven experience working as a Site Agent on civil engineering projects.
  • Strong background supervising earthworks and environmental or pond installation works.
  • Experience managing site compounds and construction logistics.
  • Excellent leadership, organisation and communication skills.
  • Sound understanding of current health and safety legislation and site best practice.
  • Ability to manage programmes, resources and site documentation effectively.
  • CSCS Black or White Card
  • SMSTS
  • First Aid at Work
Desirable
  • CPCS Appointed Person
