Job Summary
The Department of Biology is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach one lecture and two associated laboratory sections of BIOL 101 for the Fall semester 2026. This themed general biology course is intended for non‑science majors fulfilling General Education requirements and will be taught in person at Concord University’s campus in Athens, WV.
BIOL 101 covers general principles of biology including organismal biology, cellular biology, and evolution/ecology following a theme chosen by the instructor. Instructors may use thematic materials developed by department faculty or create a new theme.
The course load is 7 hours of faculty load combined, with compensation at the University’s standard rates for adjunct instructors. An allowance for office hours is also provided.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeach the lecture and two lab sections of BIOL 101, ensuring that course objectives are met and students receive comprehensive instruction. Assist in the development or selection of thematic materials and provide appropriate office hours to support student learning.
QualificationsMinimum Education:
Master’s degree in biology or related field.
Experience:
At least 18 graduate credit hours in biology from an accredited institution.
