Position
Elementary/Secondary Teacher (Middle School Teaching/Music)
Location:
Hancock County Schools, New Cumberland, West Virginia.
Employment:
Exempt, 200‑month term.
Salary:
According to the Hancock County Schools salary schedule for professionals, commensurate with experience and degree level.
Immediate supervisor:
School Principal. Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or her designee in accordance with WV State Code § 1 SA‑2‑12 and State Board Policy 5310.
Job Description
Under general direction, the teacher is responsible for the educational program within their classroom and performs duties as required by the building principal.
Qualifications- Must hold a valid West Virginia certificate for the specific teaching position.
- Provide each student with the attention needed to achieve the highest possible potential.
- Record student achievement under the policy set forth by the school administration and report fairly and accurately.
- Act in a professional manner when dealing with superiors, co‑workers, parents, and students.
- Submit all required reporting to immediate supervisor.
- Assist with hall duty, bus duty, lunch duty, and other supervisory tasks necessary for the school's operation, as directed by the principal.
- Perform any other duties determined necessary by the building principal.
- Implement the teacher’s program of study.
- Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Utilize instructional management systems that increase student learning and maximize time on task.
- Monitor and report student progress toward learning outcomes.
- Maintain and upgrade professional skills and teaching techniques.
- Promote and maintain positive pupil‑teacher‑parent relationships.
- Maintain professional work habits, attitudes, and appearance.
- Incorporate differentiated instruction.
- Co‑teach when applicable.
- Implement Multi‑Tiered System of Support (MTSS) within the classroom.
- Integrate technology within the classroom.
