OverviewPosition: Teacher, High School Teaching / Special Education Teacher

Supervisor: Principal
Employment: Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment days may be established by HCBOE
Salary: Commensurate with experience and education level, plus a benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation, pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2 and the Hampshire County Teacher Salary Schedule.
Evaluation: Performance evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor, in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and HCBOE Evaluation Policy.
Provide appropriate instruction to students and ensure that students meet the learning objectives and standards for the appropriate grade level/subject area.
Performance Responsibilities- Responsible for planning and implementing WV academic standards, content, and objectives.
- Responsible for implementing adopted and supplemental academic programs.
- Responsible for implementing technology skills.
- Responsible for planning and implementing inclusion with special education students.
- Responsible for student achievement.
- Responsible for planning and implementing co‑teaching as appropriate.
- Analyze data and plan academic support.
- Collaborate with other professional staff to enhance instruction.
- Responsible for planning and implementing designated co‑curricular activities and programs such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and field trips.
- Responsible for administering formative assessments.
- Responsible for planning and implementing personalized learning.
- Communicate with students, parents, and peers efficiently.
- Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Address and implement students' IEPs and 504 Plans and recommend revisions when needed.
- Meet professional responsibilities.
- Maintain professional work habits and adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct.
- Implement any other programs designated by the principal for school improvement.
- Includes supervisory and/or other duties as assigned by the principal.
- Valid Professional Teaching Certification:
Special Education, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2. - Autism Certification required or enrollment in coursework within the first semester of employment.
- Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10.
- Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.
- Ability to perform the job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
Frequently required to reach, stand, walk, lift, grasp, write, talk, hear, see, use technology such as computers and multimedia equipment, and perform repetitive motions. May frequently lift and/or move at least 10 pounds of materials. Requires clear vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Working ConditionsThe role is primarily indoors with occasional outdoor activities. Noise level is low to moderate (20‑60 dB) with exceptions in gymnasiums and vocational/technical laboratories where noise may be moderate to loud (60‑90 dB).
