  • 1. Can be required to administer medication to Special Education and regular education students in accordance with WV State law and County policy
  • 2. The successful applicant will be expected to complete certification in any area(s) identified in the position for which he/she is not certified. The successful applicant will be required to secure a permit in the event a student is placed under his/her caseload for any area currently not on his/her certication.
  • 3. Previous experience with disabled students, including children having behavior problems and pervasive developmental delays
  • 4. Develop and implement behavior modification plans and utilize appropriate behavior strategies and techniques
  • 5. Willing to collaborate with other professionals and to facilitate integration of exceptional students in the least restrictive setting
  • 6. Willing to team teach with other Special Education teachers and regular education staff during inclusion
  • 7. Knowledge and experience in the implementation of educational strategies, alternative curricula, and individualized instructional techniques
  • 8. Knowledge and understanding of the causes (etiology) of syndromes and conditions resulting in disabilities and their effects on educational practices
  • 9. Demonstrate competency in working with medically fragile and orthopedically impaired children as necessary
  • 10. May require lifting a minimum of 100 pounds vertically
  • 11. May be required to work with adaptive equipment and prosthetic devices
  • 12. Required to follow and implement procedures described in health care plans
  • 13. Willing to complete specialized training including CPR, First Aid, and Physical Intervention and Support Training
  • 14. Must complete all training needed to successfully implement specified special education curricula at the required programmatic levels, i.e., Read Well, Language!, V-Math, and Trans-Math.
