Role Description
Form Energy is hiring a Senior Electromechanical Design Engineer responsible for designing and specifying the control system architecture, including PLC hardware and I/O mapping, and developing the Initial Sequence of Operations (SOO). The role includes rigorous electrical system analysis (short circuit, thermal, power consumption), leading the selection of sensors and actuators, and transitioning concepts from functional requirements to fully wired control panels.
This position requires expertise in EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical, a strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ether Net/IP, Profinet, Ether
CAT), and familiarity with UL 508A and NFPA 70E.
This opportunity supports the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and a strong mission. This opportunity is based out of Form Factory 1, a 550,000-square-foot facility in Weirton, WV, near Pittsburgh, designed for high-volume, advanced battery production.

What you'll do:
Design and specify the control system architecture, including PLC hardware selection and I/O mapping.
Develop the Initial Sequence of Operations (SOO) to define how the machine behaves in every state.
Perform rigorous electrical system analysis (short circuit current, thermal loading, and power consumption) to ensure safety and reliability.
Lead the selection of sensors, actuators, and instrumentation, ensuring compatibility with the broader controls environment.
What you'll bring:
Expertise in EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
Understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ether Net/IP, Profinet, Ether
CAT).Experience transitioning a concept from a functional requirements document to a fully wired control panel.
Familiarity with UL 508A, NFPA 70E.
Bachelors Degree or higher in Electrical engineering or mechanical engineering.
