Role Description
Form Energy is hiring a Senior Equipment Engineer specializing in Mechanical Systems. You will be responsible for leading the mechanical design of custom, high-precision machinery from concept to commissioning. This includes leveraging advanced 3D CAD, conducting FEA and kinematic studies, defining GD&T for manufacturability, and proactively identifying and validating high-risk mechanisms through hands-on prototyping and bench testing. Your expertise in fluid/mechanical power systems, materials science, and troubleshooting mechanical failures will be crucial to successfully delivering complex automated equipment.

This opportunity is based out of Form Factory 1 - Form Energy's 550,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Weirton, WV, a commutable distance from Pittsburgh. Purpose-built for high-volume, advanced battery production, Form Factory 1 is a hub of fast-moving, collaborative work driving a new era of large-scale American energy manufacturing in the heart of the Rust Belt.

What you'll do:
What you'll doLead the mechanical design of custom machinery using 3D CAD (Solid Works/Inventor), focusing on precision and manufacturability.
Own the prototyping phase, identifying high-risk mechanisms early and validating them through physical bench tests.
Conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and kinematic studies to ensure structural integrity and cycle time targets.
Define tolerances and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to ensure seamless assembly of custom-machined parts.
Proven track record of taking a "blank sheet" concept to a commissioned machine.
Advanced knowledge of fluid and mechanical power systems, materials science, heat treatment, and fabrication techniques.
Strong hands-on aptitude for troubleshooting mechanical failures during the build phase.
Bachelors degree or higher in mechanical engineering
