Role Description

Form Energy is seeking an Analytical Development Engineer to develop and validate fit‑for‑purpose analytical methods that ensure the performance, safety, and reliability of our battery components. As part of the Quality Analytical Development team, you will create robust, data‑driven methods that support product qualification, root‑cause investigations, and continuous improvement across our technology. You'll collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to prioritize method development, reduce measurement system error, and strengthen our Control Plans and Response Plans for active production in FF1.

This is a hands‑on, technical role with direct impact on production readiness and product quality. A secondary focus includes supporting root‑cause and corrective‑action efforts for emerging production issues and contributing to cross‑site alignment of analytical strategies and capabilities.

What you’ll do:
  • Interface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to identify where new or improved analytical methods are needed to control processes, reduce variability, and enable better business decisions.
  • Build and document end‑to‑end development workflows for new analytical methods, including scoping, experimental design, optimization, validation, and readiness for production use.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the training program for new analytical methods, ensuring technicians and engineers are fully qualified and methods are executed consistently across sites.
  • Partner with the Lab Manager to diagnose and resolve instrument excursions, performance drift, and maintenance issues that impact method reliability.
  • Serve as a technical leader in root‑cause investigations and corrective‑action efforts for production issues, using analytical data to drive problem resolution and prevent recurrence.
What you’ll bring:
  • 5+ years of quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced understanding of measurement system analysis, sampling plans, hypothesis testing, and calibration
  • Structured problem‑solving (8D) and analytical skills, including strong technical skills in statistical tools, Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Capability (Cpk, Ppk), etc.
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment while remaining detail‑oriented with strong record‑keeping and organizational skills
  • Experience in ISO
    9001, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar fields is a plus
Where you’ll work:

This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV — an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000‑square‑foot facility is our hub for high‑volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
