Wire Harness Engineer Overview We  are seeking a hands-on Wire Harness Engineer to serve as the primary engineering liaison between design and manufacturing. This individual will be embedded at our West Virginia manufacturing facility, ensuring harness designs are successfully transitioned from engineering into production while driving Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives.

This is not a traditional design-only engineering role. The ideal candidate enjoys spending time on the manufacturing floor, collaborating with technicians and engineers, solving production challenges, and improving product manufacturability. You will work cross-functionally with electrical engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to ensure harness designs are efficiently built, validated, and released into production.

Responsibilities Act as the primary engineering representative supporting wire harness manufacturing.

Lead DFM and DFA reviews between engineering and manufacturing teams.

Review harness drawings, schematics, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation for production readiness.

Translate manufacturing feedback into engineering design improvements and communicate recommendations to the design team.

Drive cross-functional design reviews and track action items through completion.

Support prototype and production builds while resolving manufacturing issues.

Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to optimize assembly processes and improve manufacturability.

Provide technical guidance during product launches and production ramp activities.

Build strong working relationships across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.

Proactively identify risks, communicate issues, and drive timely resolution.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).5+ years of wire harness design and development experience.

Proven experience taking wire harnesses from concept through production release.

Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).Experience working directly within a manufacturing or factory environment.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.

Experience supporting multiple product launches.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional technical discussions.

Highly proactive with the ability to work independently and drive projects forward.

Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting battery systems, energy storage, automotive, EV, aerospace, or other complex electromechanical products.

Manufacturing Product Introduction (MPI), New Product Introduction (NPI), or Technical Program Management (TPM) experience.

Experience improving manufacturing processes and production efficiency.

What Success Looks Like First 30 Days Develop a thorough understanding of the Gen 2 harness architecture.

Build strong relationships with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Become familiar with manufacturing processes, documentation, and product requirements.

Within 90 Days Independently lead DFM/DFA meetings.

Drive manufacturing design reviews and convert production feedback into engineering action items.

Serve as the primary technical liaison between design engineering and manufacturing.
