We are searching for a hands‑on Wire Harness Engineer to act as the main technical bridge between our design and production departments. Based at our West Virginia facility, you will ensure that harness designs transition smoothly into the manufacturing phase while championing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) best practices.

This position goes beyond standard design work. We are looking for someone who thrives on the production floor, enjoys partnering with technicians and engineers to tackle manufacturing hurdles, and is committed to enhancing product buildability. You will collaborate across departments—including electrical engineering, operations, and manufacturing—to ensure that harness designs are validated, built, and released with maximum efficiency.

Role Overview

Core Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for all wire harness production activities.
  • Facilitate DFM and DFA evaluations to help the team achieve more efficient production outcomes.
  • Assess schematics, harness drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation to verify they are ready for the production floor.
  • Convert insights from the manufacturing team into actionable design improvements for the engineering group.
  • Lead collaborative design sessions and manage action items to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Provide hands‑on support during prototype and production builds to help resolve technical issues.
  • Work alongside engineering and manufacturing staff to refine assembly workflows and boost overall manufacturability.
  • Offer technical expertise to ensure successful product launches and smooth production ramp‑ups.
  • Foster strong, productive relationships between the engineering, operations, and manufacturing departments.
  • Identify potential risks early and communicate effectively to ensure issues are resolved promptly.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience focused on wire harness development and design.
  • Demonstrated success in guiding wire harness projects from the initial concept phase through to final production release.
  • Solid grasp of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Direct experience working within a factory or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring schematics, engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Proven track record of supporting multiple product launch cycles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions across different departments.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to work autonomously and push projects toward completion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in automotive, EV, battery systems, aerospace, energy storage, or other complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience in Technical Program Management (TPM), New Product Introduction (NPI), or Manufacturing Product Introduction (MPI).
  • Experience in optimizing production efficiency and refining manufacturing processes.
