Staff Engineer
Drive manufacturing excellence by developing cutting-edge processes, solving complex production challenges, and optimizing operations for safety, quality, and efficiency in a hands-on engineering role.
Must-HavesAssociate's and/or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related S.T.E.M. field (Engineering students or higher education also considered)
CAD proficiency (Autodesk suite or Solid Works)
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
ERP systems experience (JDE preferred), including creation of product codes and routings
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Six Sigma concepts for process development
Fluency in MS Office software applications
Flexible with time when production demands require it
What You'll DoProcess DevelopmentYou'll develop new manufacturing processes and improve existing ones, always focusing on SAFETY, QUALITY, DELIVERY, and COST (SQDC). Your engineering expertise will directly impact production efficiency, product quality, and operational safety.
You'll create and manage project plans for process development activities, coordinating tasks, resources, and schedules to ensure successful implementation. This includes providing ROI justification for process and equipment improvements, building the business case that drives capital investment decisions.
Your responsibilities include specifying, identifying, and procuring new manufacturing equipment, then preparing it for production readiness. You'll develop and optimize process parameters to maximize efficiency and quality, while developing and revising process documentation and work instructions that ensure consistency across shifts and operators.
You'll also assist with the design of custom tooling, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to create solutions tailored to specific manufacturing challenges.
Factory SupportYou'll monitor process yields, cost, and process stability and capability, using data to identify opportunities for improvement. Based on these metrics, you'll recommend and implement quality improvements that have measurable impact on production performance.
Your hands-on involvement includes creating, validating, and maintaining automatic equipment programs that keep production running smoothly. When issues arise, you'll solve manufacturing problems related to materials, designs, equipment, or processes in a timely manner, minimizing downtime and maintaining throughput.
You'll support the training of new personnel and participate in designing operator training materials that build capability across the workforce. Additionally, you'll support factory maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and repair of process equipment, applying your technical knowledge to resolve complex mechanical and process issues.
Design SupportYou'll handle product codification and demonstrate understanding of multi-level Bill of Materials (BoM) structures, ensuring accurate product definitions and smooth production planning.
Why This Role MattersThis is a high-impact, hands-on engineering position where you'll see the direct results of your work on the factory floor every day. You'll have the autonomy to drive improvements, the resources to implement solutions, and the support of a team committed to manufacturing excellence.
You'll gain broad exposure across process development, equipment specification, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement, building versatile skills that advance your engineering career. The role offers a balance of strategic project work and real-time problem-solving, giving you both long-term development opportunities and the satisfaction of immediate impact.
LocationBased in Weirton, WV, you'll work in an established manufacturing community with affordable living, proximity to Pittsburgh, and access to outdoor recreation in the Northern Panhandle region.
