This is a hybrid role, which will require working onsite from our office 3 days per week.

What you’ll do:- Lead development and implementation of tax strategies that minimize effective tax rate and maximize cash flow, including structuring guidance for joint ventures, project finance arrangements, and capital expenditure planning.
- Identify, evaluate, and secure tax incentives, grants, and credits related to manufacturing and project development (e.g., Federal/State R&D credits, Section 179D, Section 45X/48E energy credits); oversee R&D tax credit calculations.
- Understand and document the Company’s tax positions as they relate to the IRA and new tax credits; monitor legislative changes and proactively advise leadership on optimization strategies.
- Lead the annual ASC 740 income tax reporting process, including quarterly and annual provisions, deferred tax asset/liability analysis, valuation allowance evaluation, and uncertain tax positions (FIN 48).
- Oversee preparation, review, and timely filing of all Federal, State, and non‑US income tax returns; manage estimated tax payments, extensions, and cash tax forecasting.
- Direct specialized manufacturing tax computations including UNICAP (Section 263A), inventory accounting method changes, and depreciation/fixed asset tracking across projects.
- Manage SALT compliance across all non‑income taxes (sales & use, property, gross receipts, payroll); continuously assess nexus footprint as operations expand into new jurisdictions.
- Serve as primary point of contact for all federal, state, and local tax audits; develop audit defense strategies and maintain comprehensive documentation.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls over tax processes (SOX compliance); drive automation initiatives and manage external provider relationships.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or in‑house corporate tax, with a minimum of 4+ years at a public accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes) and US GAAP, evidenced by recent responsibility leading a global income tax provision process.
- In‑depth understanding of US federal and state tax rules; experience with manufacturing tax incentives (45X, R&D credits, UNICAP/263A) strongly preferred.
- Recent tax experience at a multinational US‑headquartered corporation preferred; knowledge of transfer pricing a plus.
- Proven ability to lead in a fast‑paced, pioneering environment without an existing roadmap; strong project management and cross‑functional communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
