Overview
Under close supervision, learn the methods of processing benefit applications in a training role. Determine eligibility for, and manage a caseload for economic assistance including, but not limited to SNAP, various Medicaid programs, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers. Learn to use department software to administer a demanding caseload. Comprehend and adhere to complex policy regarding eligibility and issuance of benefits.
Learn to conduct interviews with clients. Train to analyze financial and social information. May obtain repayment for economic assistance issued erroneously. Perform related work as required.

Minimum QualificationsTraining: High school diploma or the equivalent.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience providing direct client services such as interviewing clients, customers or the public and evaluating the data against established standards and guidelines OR two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience performing customer service, telemarketing, retail or clerical work.
Substitution: Successful completion of coursework at a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience at the rate of one (1) year experience for every thirty (30) credit hours of education.
