The OpportunityWe are currently hiring for the role of Pressure Vessel Welder to join our team.
The Pressure Vessel Welder reports to the Welding Supervisor and department Lead Hand. This position is responsible for welding pressure vessels and related components used in natural gas compressor packages. The role requires the ability to interpret engineering and fabrication drawings, perform vessel fit up and welding tasks, and maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and applicable code requirements within a manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:(Including but are not limited to the following)
- Perform oxyacetylene cutting on ferrous and nonferrous metals in accordance with established methods and procedures.
- Bolt to secure vessels in positioner for final welding.
- Required to use GMAW/MCAW/SMAW/SAW welding processes.
- Maintain production documentation for each procedure, HT #5 and stamp weld
- Follow all applicable safety and sanitation procedures.
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, including the safe operation of equipment and help to maintain a safe, clean work, environment.
- Participate in toolbox meetings.
- Adheres to and promotes compliance with all Company PPE requirements.
- All other duties as assigned.
- 3+ Years experience welding / manufacture of pressure vessels.
- Working knowledge of how to use hand tools and setup and operate applicable shop machines correctly.
- Must be able to read and interpret welding symbols.
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, able to take/read measurements to plan layout and apply to job.
- Proficient in basic math including addition/ subtraction of whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Able to determine the appropriate welding process to use based on job specs/code.
- Set-up components for welding according to job specifications (cut material with powered saws and torches to match measurements).
- Operate angle grinder to prepare parts to be welded.
- Ability to understand manufacturing sequence in a vessel fabrication shop
- Align job components using rulers, tape measure, calipers.
- Must be able to weld in the 6G position and perform carbon arc gouging of nozzles.
- Must be able to pass 100% X-Ray welds consistently.
- Punctual and consistent attendance is required. Must be available for overtime or weekend hours, as needed.
Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances and in small areas with many moving pieces/parts.
