RN: Stepdown

Job Description

This 13‑week contract opportunity places you on a staffed inpatient step‑down/PCU unit featuring a 12‑hour rotating shift schedule. You’ll work with a diverse patient population, including cardiac patients, post‑pneumonia, post‑cath lab, seizure management, and ETOH protocols, among others. The role emphasizes cardiac monitoring and titratable drips such as Cardizem, Amio, Nitro, Heparin, Dopamine, and Dobutamine, requiring at least 2 years of relevant step‑down or PCU experience.

• Collect vital signs and perform ADLs.
• Client repositioning and blood sugar monitoring.
• Respond to call lights and collaborate with hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7.
• Practice troubleshooting respiratory equipment, including vents, BiPAPs, and telemonitor readouts.
• Interpret rhythm strips and read telemonitors.
• Enforce navy blue dress code and work alongside patient care techs.
• Assist charge nurses, who oversee shifts but generally do not take patient assignments.
• Participate in a two‑day orientation program and one day with a preceptor; float to other inpatient units as needed.

Weekly gross pay: approximately $2,057.56.

Weekly commitment: 36 hours over 13 weeks.
