We are looking for Medical Surgical RNs for an immediate travel nurse opening in Weirton, WV. The right RN should have 1-2 years recent acute care experience.
Responsibilities- Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs.
- Perform ongoing assessments and appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.
- Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients' families.
- Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
- Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
- Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
- Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient.
- Educate patients on surgical procedures.
- Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician.
- Stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty. Be able to lift up to 20 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work in a fast-paced environment treating patients that may be confused, agitated, and/or uncooperative.
- BLS certification.
- 2 years recent acute care experience (Medical Surgical).
- Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
