ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re recruiting on behalf of a specialist engineering organisation designing and manufacturing advanced technologies. Their systems enable customers to discover, navigate, measure, detect, and communicate in critical maritime, energy, environmental, and defence applications.
As part of continued growth, they are seeking a meticulous and proactive Quality Inspector to join their Quality team at their Hampshire site.
This is a hands‑on inspection role focused on ensuring electronic, electrical, and electro‑mechanical assemblies meet the highest standards of workmanship, compliance, and traceability before release to customers.
You will work closely with Production, Engineering, Test, and Supply Chain teams to ensure only fully compliant product leaves site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out detailed inspection of PCBs (surface mount and through‑hole), cables, coils, battery packs, and electro‑mechanical assemblies
- Perform patrol inspections across production and test areas to maintain workmanship and quality standards
- Review engineering drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions, and supporting documentation to verify compliance
- Identify, record, and elevate non‑conformances using internal quality systems
- Verify certification, traceability, and conformity of incoming materials and components
- Inspect electronic and electro‑mechanical assemblies for workmanship, labelling, crimp integrity, and assembly quality
- Support basic testing and inspection of batteries and PCB assemblies following training
- Authorise product release for despatch following successful inspection and documentation review
- Maintain accurate quality records within ERP systems (SYSPRO)
- Raise reject reports and support containment and corrective actions where required
- Support continuous improvement activities within Quality and Operations
- Promote and maintain strong adherence to Safety, Quality, and ESD control standards
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience inspecting electronic, electrical, or electro‑mechanical assemblies
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
- Knowledge of PCB assembly processes (SMT and/or through‑hole)
- Understanding of ESD control requirements and best practice handling of sensitive electronics
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Experience using Microsoft Office and computer‑based systems
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SYSPRO)
- Soldering or hands‑on electronics assembly experience
- Familiarity with quality inspection techniques and non‑conformance processes
- Experience working with cables, PCB assemblies, or electro‑mechanical systems
- Exposure to structured quality environments (e.g., aerospace, defence, marine, or high‑reliability electronics)
