Under general directive supervision, works with others in performing skilled electrical maintenance and construction, such as testing, troubleshooting, adjusting, calibrating, overhaul and construction on plant electrical equipment, circuits, systems and apparatus.
Responsibilities- Maintain and repair generators, motors and associated equipment, including motor inspection, bearing replacement and motor alignment.
- Repair electrical control equipment and interlocks on cranes, precipitators, conveyors, fans, pumps and other plant equipment.
- Respond to maintenance requests, investigate root causes, perform necessary repairs and release equipment when ready for service.
- Direct, inspect, train and supervise electricians at the same or lower classification, ensuring safety at all times.
- Install, adjust and calibrate electrical equipment, instrumentation, transducers, meters and relays, and wiring on switching structures.
- Conduct electrical testing of equipment and cables, including high‑potential tests, insulation, megger and continuity.
- Install, maintain, and repair distribution switch gear and auxiliary equipment, and perform non‑code welding, brazing, soldering and arc welding.
- Maintain and repair storage batteries, battery changer equipment and uninterruptible power systems (UPS).
- Co‑coordinate with supervisors and production crew for clearance and removal of equipment from service, isolating equipment per the clearance procedure.
- Perform rigging, blocking, scaffolding and ladder work, and direct the movement and lifting of heavy equipment.
- Repair controls on auxiliary equipment, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and solenoid valves.
- Align motor‑driven equipment, troubleshoot, modify and calibrate variable frequency drives and electronic controls on precipitators, transformer rectifiers and other equipment.
- Perform confined‑space monitoring and complete required documentation.
- Assist in developing electrical maintenance procedures and keep work areas clean and presentable.
- Operate mobile plant equipment such as forklifts, skid steers and man lifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
