Traveling Lead Composite Blade Technician 4
GEV Wind Power US is seeking experienced Traveling Lead Composite Blade Technician 4 with extensive Category 4 & 5 composite blade repair expertise. This role involves leading and mentoring teams of technicians while performing high-quality, complex blade repairs up to Category 5, including structural and specialty repairs. The ideal candidate is physically capable, safety-minded, and experienced with composite materials such as epoxy and polyester resins, balsa, foam, and fiberglass reinforcement.

Throughout USA (and potentially Canada) | 100% travel on a rotational basis

Job Responsibilities:
- Travel 100% to wind farms throughout North America on an 8/1 rotation.
- Lead and mentor other technicians on a team with proper composite blade repairs, up to Category 5 complex or specialty repairs
- Perform expert composite blade repair uptower via platforms, occasionally on the ground, and potentially rope access
- Perform Epoxy and Polyester resin wet lay up, vacuum infusion, balsa and foam sandwich materials
- May be required to perform structural repair of blades
- Complete detailed Daily Progress Reporting Documents and QA/QC reports, adhering to Quality Checkpoints
- Complete onsite stock checks
- Demonstrate leadership with team
- Assisting site lead and project coordinator
Job requirements:
- 5+ years of high-quality composite repair experience performing all types of blade repairs.
- Knowledge of epoxy and polyester resins, wet lay-up, and vacuum bag techniques.
- Experience handling balsa and foam core materials.
- Knowledge of fiberglass reinforcement and structural repair methods.
- Ability to safely and properly use powered hand tools.
- Good finger dexterity, including precise use of hand and power tools
- Understanding of repair specifications, including wind speeds, temperature, and humidity restrictions.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and processes.
- IT literate, including email, internet, and iPad usage.
- Ability to work well in a team, take guidance, and provide leadership when required.
- Experience safely setting up and using 360-degree and 2M basket platforms.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including by air and ground transportation, often on short notice, and to spend extended periods away from home at project sites.
- Ability to drive or travel up to 11 hours per day when required.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in scope and work assignments.
- Able to work safely in outdoor environments under both extreme heat and cold conditions.
- Physically capable of meeting strenuous job requirements, including climbing ladders 2+ times per day up to 300 feet (90 meters), bending, crawling, stooping, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to wear a respirator and work safely with protective equipment
- Good vision (with corrective lenses if necessary) to perform detailed inspections, read instructions, and safely operate equipment.
- Valid driver's license, good MVR report, and must be 21 years of age or older to drive a company vehicle.
- Valid passport is a plus.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. or Canada (citizenship or legal work authorization required).
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check and maintain a drug-free status.
The following certifications are optional and considered a plus:
- GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) – fire awareness, working at heights, manual handling, first aid
- GWO BTT (Basic Technical Training) – electrical, hydraulic, mechanical
- IRATA or SPRAT rope access experience and certification is a plus; certificate must be current, and candidate must be physically capable of performing rope access work safely.
- OSHA 10 General Industry
- SGRE Blade C or Blade D certificate
- GE NAM Blade LOTO certificate
