Fire Watch Technician | Travel Contract | Apple Grove, WV | Competitive Rate + Per Diem
Mural Group Industrial is hiring one Fire Watch Technician for a travel contract at a major steel manufacturing facility in Apple Grove, West Virginia. The project is expected to run 3 or more months with real potential to extend. Per diem applies. This position is available immediately.
The ProjectYou will serve as the dedicated fire watch for an active stick welding operation on-site at a major steel plant. A crew of 16 structural welders is performing approximately 1,854 feet of intermittent SMAW welding on four large structural steel silos. Your job is to monitor the work area continuously during and after all hot work operations -- watching for ignition of surrounding materials, maintaining fire suppression equipment in the work zone, and responding appropriately to any fire or safety hazard.

What You Need- Documented fire watch experience on live welding, cutting, or other industrial hot work -- not classroom only. You should be able to describe what you look for, how long you monitor after welding stops, and what your escalation steps are if something ignites.
- Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR hot work requirements and fire watch responsibilities
- OSHA 10 (General Industry) certification preferred; OSHA 30 is a strong plus
- Familiarity with hot work permit systems and fire extinguisher operation
- Willingness to travel and commit to a 3-plus month project -- per diem applies, national travel pool
- Ability to pass a 7-year background check and both urine and hair drug screening -- required by the facility, non-negotiable
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience - per diem for all travel and lodging
- A well-defined work area with experienced site supervision and a structured safety program
Candidates with current first aid and CPR certification are preferred. Please note any safety certifications in your application.
