The Echo Technician/Cardiac Sonographer independently performs 2-D echocardiograms, cardiac Doppler, and color flow imaging studies in accordance with established departmental policies, procedures, and professional standards. The position is responsible for providing accurate diagnostic imaging, maintaining patient safety, ensuring proper documentation, and supporting physicians and the healthcare team during cardiac procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Perform echocardiograms and related cardiac imaging tests.
  • Verify and evaluate diagnostic orders and clarify incomplete or confusing orders as needed.
  • Prepare and position patients and imaging equipment safely, competently, and efficiently while incorporating age-specific considerations.
  • Assist physicians with stress echocardiograms and transesophageal echocardiography (TTE) procedures.
  • Follow appropriate testing procedures and evaluate data generated during diagnostic studies.
  • Identify and appropriately address questionable or abnormal test results.
  • Document all required information accurately and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure patient records contain complete, accurate, and legible information.
  • Complete appropriate image storage and patient charging requirements.
  • Maintain equipment readiness and demonstrate competency with all assigned imaging equipment.
  • Perform periodic equipment evaluations and ensure equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, assembled, calibrated, and maintained according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and equipment necessary for daily operations.
  • Promote patient safety through appropriate awareness, education, infection control, and safety practices.
  • Follow aseptic techniques for designated procedures and use appropriate PPE when required.
  • Facilitate effective communication among departmental staff and promote an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Report significant patient changes or findings to nurses, physicians, leadership, and appropriate healthcare personnel.
  • Exercise sound independent judgment within the scope of certification and established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional interpersonal communication and a strong customer service orientation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training in Echocardiography or a related field required.
  • Six months to one year of echocardiography experience preferred.
  • Current Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential preferred.
  • Registry-eligible candidates may be considered but must obtain registration within six months of employment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Job Type: Part-Time

Hours:

24 hours per week

Salary: $46.00 - $60.00 per hour

Open to local candidates as well as those willing to relocate.
