The Medical Staff Coordinator plays an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the Hospital's medical staff program and serves as the primary administrative resource for the medical staff and provider workforce. This position coordinates key medical staff functions, including credentialing and privileging, medical staff governance, peer review administration, provider recruitment and onboarding support, and regulatory and accreditation compliance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates the Hospital's medical staff credentialing and privileging program, including appointments, reappointments, temporary privileges, changes in staff status or privileges, and related activities. Collaborates closely with Human Resources, Quality & Risk, Payor Enrollment, and Education Services to ensure required verifications, licenses, certifications, insurance, education, training, and documentation are complete, current, accurate, and maintained.
  • Manages day-to-day workflows with the Hospital's external Credentials Verification Organization (CVO) and other credentialing resources. Monitors timelines, resolves routine discrepancies and barriers, and escalates delays, concerns, and other issues as appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential Medical Staff records and information systems, including provider files, rosters, privileges, contact information, reports, and other required documentation.
  • Administers Medical Staff governance processes in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, policies, accreditation standards, and applicable requirements. Attends and coordinates meetings, including preparing agendas, materials, minutes, recommendations, approvals, correspondence, and follow-up. Serves as a resource regarding Medical Staff governing documents, requirements, and processes.
  • Coordinates Medical Staff peer review and professional practice evaluation processes, including Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and other applicable reviews. Coordinates required data, documentation, tracking, communication, and follow-up while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
  • Supports the development and application of credentialing and privileging criteria in collaboration with Medical Staff leadership and other Hospital stakeholders.
  • Supports provider recruitment in collaboration with Hospital leadership and Human Resources, including candidate communications, site visits, recruiter relationships, and other recruitment activities. Facilitates the transition of selected providers through contracting, credentialing, onboarding, and readiness to practice.
  • Coordinates provider onboarding and readiness, including orientation and collaboration across departments to ensure agreements, documentation, system access, training, and other requirements are completed before the provider's start date.
  • Serves as a primary administrative resource and liaison for the Medical Staff, responding to questions, facilitating communication, building effective working relationships, and resolving routine operational issues within the scope of the position.
  • Serves as a day-to-day administrative contact for external healthcare organizations, contracted providers, credentialing organizations, vendors, and other partners supporting the Hospital's provider workforce and clinical services.
