Senior Accountant - Non-Profit
Our client, a leading non-profit organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional passionate about mission-driven work to support impactful programs and maintain financial integrity.
Responsibilities:
+ Oversee monthly and annual closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with non-profit accounting standards.
+ Prepare and review financial statements and reports for leadership and external stakeholders.
+ Maintain general ledger activities and support grant and fund accounting, including tracking restricted funds and donor grants.
+ Collaborate closely with program and development teams to monitor budgets, analyze variances, and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
+ Manage and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
+ Support audit activities, provide documentation, and ensure compliance with GAAP and IRS regulations relevant to non-profit entities.
+ Identify process improvements and help implement new financial systems or procedures as needed.
+ Mentor junior accounting staff and assist in their professional development.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or relevant certification preferred.
+ 4+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in non-profit sector strongly desired.
+ Proficient with accounting software (such as Quick Books, Net Suite, or Sage Intacct) and MS Excel.
+ Strong understanding of GAAP, non-profit accounting, and fund/grant management.
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Demonstrated commitment to the non-profit mission and values.
