Parking Clerk
The Town of Wellesley is seeking a part-time (up to 15 hours/week) professional, detail‑oriented, and customer‑focused individual to serve as Parking Clerk within the Wellesley Police Department’s Traffic and Parking Division. This position plays a vital role in administering parking violation enforcement and parking management programs while supporting positive relationships between the Town, residents, businesses, and visitors. This position is well suited for individuals with experience in administrative support, customer service, regulatory compliance, or municipal operations who are comfortable working in a high‑volume public‑facing environment.
Candidates with experience handling payments, maintaining databases, conducting administrative hearings, or working within a municipal or public safety setting are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities- Administer and enforce parking violation policies and procedures in compliance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 90, Sections 22 and 22A.
- Maintain the parking violation database, track the status of violations, oversee the data processing contractor to ensure accurate revenue collection, and coordinate with the Wellesley Police Department to pursue overdue fines.
- Establish schedules for issuing notices to vehicle owners with outstanding violations, manage the secure collection of parking meter revenue through an outside contractor, research parking violation appeals and scheduling, conduct, and document fair and impartial hearings.
- Collect parking violation fines, late fees, and permit fees and ensure proper deposit of all funds with the Treasurer/Collector.
- Manage resident and employee parking rate programs, including issuance of annual and temporary permits.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to operate and maintain large databases.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and dispute resolution abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, high-stress, public-facing environment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
The hourly range for this position (DOQ) is $25.00 – $27.00. This position is not eligible for benefits.
