Peer Accessibility Assistant
DEPARTMENT Accessibility Services REPORTS TO EJ Chen (echen) or Jennifer Wong (jwong8) PAY RATE $15/hour
The OpportunityThe Peer Accessibility Assistant supports the Department of Accessibility Services (DAS) through several roles: assisting with exam sessions through proctoring, reading exam content aloud, or scribing student responses, and attending classes to take and share notes. This role ensures equitable access to learning and testing environments while upholding Babson College’s values of integrity, professionalism, and inclusion.
What You Will Do- Proctoring:
Administer and monitor exams, distribute materials, announce instructions, manage breaks, and report misconduct. - Reading:
Read exam content aloud to students requiring auditory assistance. - Scribing:
Transcribe student responses during exams for those unable to write independently. - Note-Taking:
Attend assigned classes and take clear, organized notes. Upload notes within 12 hours of class. If unable to attend, arrange a substitute. - Administrative Duties:
Assist with front desk tasks, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and managing appointment logistics. Assume additional responsibilities as required.
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Neat handwriting (if laptops are not permitted)
- Strong typing and computer proficiency
- Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working with diverse student populations
- Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing
- Ability to create an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deal with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciate open mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics
- Ability to embrace ideas and changes created by all community members

- Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Drive/Docs and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar)

- Attend a 90-minute training session covering confidentiality, academic integrity, disability services, and exam procedures
- Submit weekly timesheets accurately reflecting hours worked
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Follow exam policies including handling late arrivals, managing personal breaks, and ensuring exam integrity
- Report suspected academic misconduct to the Coordinator of Accessibility Services
- Position must appear in your Workday account before starting
- A valid Social Security Number and appropriate documentation (e.g., passport) are required
- Must meet with Student Employment within 24 hours of job offer
