Student Photographer

Pay Rate: $50/hour

The Opportunity

Student Photographers support the BabsonARTS marketing and communications efforts by capturing high-quality photographs of arts events, performances, exhibitions, and related programming throughout the academic year. Working closely with the BabsonARTS Marketing Consultant and department staff, the Student Event Photographer documents approximately 10 to 12 events per semester on the Babson College campus. Photographs produced in this role are used to promote BabsonARTS programs and advance the department’s mission across a variety of platforms, including social media, email communications, websites, posters, brochures, and other marketing materials.

The Student Photographer is responsible for editing and delivering photos within 48 hours of each assignment to support timely promotional needs.

What You Will Do
  • Capture high-quality photographs of BabsonARTS events, performances, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and other programs throughout the academic year.
  • Work closely with the BabsonARTS Marketing Consultant to understand photography priorities and desired event coverage.
  • Arrive at scheduled events 15-30 minutes before start time to set up.
  • Create images that support the promotion of BabsonARTS programs across social media, websites, email communications, print materials, and other marketing channels.
  • Document a variety of event elements, including performers, presenters, audience engagement, candid moments, and venue details.
  • Select, edit, and organize a curated collection of photographs (25-40) from each assignment for marketing, communications, and archival use.
  • Meet established deadlines and deliver edited images within 48 hours of each event.
  • Manage photography assignments independently while maintaining professionalism and strong communication with BabsonARTS staff and event contacts.
  • Maintain and safeguard personal photography equipment needed to complete assignments.
  • Submit work hours in a timely manner each week.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Education and Skills
  • Current Babson College student in good standing.
  • Previous experience with event, performance, portrait, journalistic, or arts photography.
  • Proficiency with camera systems and basic photo editing softwares.
  • Strong understanding of composition, lighting, focus, and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact respectfully with artists, speakers, guests, and members of the Babson community.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the event schedule.
  • Interest in the arts and enthusiasm for supporting the mission and programs of BabsonARTS.
  • Ability to take initiative; deal with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciate open mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics.
