seeking a customer-focused and organized Bookstore Operations Assistant to support the daily operations of the campus bookstore. This role provides front-line customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors while assisting with textbook distribution, inventory management, order processing, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced higher education environment and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities- Support the day-to-day operations of the bookstore.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Receive, unpack, and stock textbooks and merchandise.
- Process incoming shipments and update inventory records in the system.
- Assist students with textbook orders, digital bookshelf access, and access code redemption.
- Coordinate textbook distribution, returns, and exchanges.
- Support faculty with textbook adoption processes, deadlines, and platform navigation to ensure accurate course listings each semester.
- Communicate with online book distributors and publishers to resolve order and access code issues.
- Address, resolve, or elevate customer concerns as appropriate.
- Maintain bookstore cleanliness, organization, and inventory accuracy.
- Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks.
- Work effectively in a team-oriented and customer-focused environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30–40 pounds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer applications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours during semester start-up and peak periods
