About EXPLO Middle School

EXPLO Middle School is an innovative 4‑week summer program serving students in grades 6–8, consisting of two 2‑week sessions on Wellesley College’s beautiful campus. Students choose between EXPLO 360°, a diverse menu of classes exploring multiple subjects and interests, or one of our Focus Programs – intensive, specialized tracks in Veterinary Science or Medical Rotations. Classes are led by subject‑area experts and professional teachers, while Student Advisors facilitate activities, events, and all other aspects of the campus community experience.

About

This Opportunity

We’re looking for medical professionals, innovative researchers, and dynamic teachers to lead our Medical Rotations Focus Program. You’ll guide bright, curious middle schoolers through an experience that emphasizes collaboration, critical thinking, and real‑world problem‑solving – all supported by EXPLO’s Office of Teaching and Learning. You’ll also have the opportunity to facilitate connections with guest speakers and organizations working on the frontiers of medicine, inspiring students to explore new areas of study and potential future career paths.

The curriculum features visiting faculty, guest speakers, off‑campus trips, and projects with organizations at the cutting edge of the field. The course runs for two weeks and is then repeated for a second session. For more information about the course, visit .

  • Inspire students to explore new areas of study and potential career pathways.
  • Chaperone off‑campus academic trips, integrating those experiences with curricular content.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review and customize EXPLO’s project‑based curriculum in close collaboration with our curriculum coaches, drawing on your own research, professional practice, and interests.
  • Teach each weekday with an on‑campus commitment from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday–Friday (some off‑campus trip days may extend slightly beyond regular hours, within normal business hours).
  • Complete daily preparation required for an engaging student experience, including lab preparation and classroom setup.
  • Facilitate connections with external partners and guest speakers, as appropriate.
  • Attend weekly faculty meetings and provide student feedback throughout the program.
  • Chaperone off‑campus academic trips with your class to integrate real‑world experiences with curricular content.
Program Details + Compensation
  • Duration: 4.5 weeks (seasonal position).
  • Training: 3‑day on‑campus orientation begins Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Remote pre‑season coaching (lesson plan review, content preparation) scheduled flexibly based on your availability.
  • Compensation: $5,200 (based on experience and qualifications).
Perks
  • Daily lunch provided.
  • Limited on‑campus housing available (additional program responsibilities required).
What We’re Looking For Education + Experience

  • Recent professional or academic experience in a medical field.
  • Post‑graduation professional experience strongly preferred.
