Position: Peers On Wellness (POW)

Peer On Wellness (POW)

Peers On Wellness (POWs) serve as undergraduate student leaders dedicated to prevention, education, and advocacy on topics such as alcohol and other drug use, gender-based violence, sexual health, and mental/emotional wellbeing. POWs act as role models and resources for the undergraduate student population and ambassadors to Wellness & Prevention Services. POWs will spend 3.5 hours per week on POW related activities demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and creativity through various events and assignments.

They will work collaboratively to provide prevention education, harm reduction strategies, and well‑being programming.

What You Will Do
  • Serve as a confidential resource for students – making referrals to on and off-campus resources and communicating with a supervisor about concerns or potential risks.
  • Attend the Mandatory New Student Orientation in August and January.
  • Facilitate either Got Your BAC or Positive Consent workshops during fall and spring New Student Orientations.
  • Attend weekly staff and subcommittee meetings (Thursdays 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm).
  • Participate in weekly tabling opportunities outside the Mindfulness Room and various spots on campus regarding WPS and POW initiatives.
  • Plan, organize, and execute at least one event per semester related to WPS’ four pillars.
  • Monthly check‑in with supervisor.
  • Serve on one POW subcommittee and assist other POW subcommittees with special projects and tasks when needed.
  • Successfully hang up monthly Stall Street Journals around campus.
  • Assist in staffing Wellness & Prevention Services events such as Fresh Check Day, Sex in the Dark, Love Yourself Wellness Fair, and CARE Month Events.
  • Prompt professional responses to emails and Whats App messages.
  • Present and facilitate workshops and programs for various audiences.
  • Build relationships with fellow POWs, other student leaders, and professional staff.
  • Be familiar with college policies and both on and off‑campus community resources.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Education and Skills
  • Babson undergraduate student.
  • Dedication and passion for promoting health, balance, and wellbeing through programming, education, and leadership.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drug use, gender‑based misconduct, sexual and reproductive concerns, and mental health.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Drive/Docs and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar).
  • Ability to manage a high volume of workload and commitments.
  • Proactive advancement of equity outcomes; accountability for self and others.
  • Capacity to create a safe, initiative‑friendly environment for direct reports.
  • Resilience, resourcefulness, optimism, and open‑mindedness in complex situations.
