Research & Instruction Librarian I, Business Generalist, Babson College | Horn Library (Wellesley)

The Research & Instruction Librarian, Business Generalist develops and delivers customized instruction that integrates essential business intelligence, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills; designs effective and accessible learning experiences; and serves as a strategic partner in aligning instructional support with research services. This role supports students in experiential learning programs, guiding them as they apply business concepts and tools within real‑world business contexts.

In addition to discipline‑specific liaison work, the librarian contributes to library‑wide initiatives that advance institutional goals and improve learning outcomes, leveraging emerging research technologies such as artificial intelligence. The position supports campus engagement and service activities that strengthen the library’s role as an integrated academic partner.

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies/Science from an American Library Association‑accredited school.
  • At least 1‑3 years of post‑MLS library experience.
  • Strong, dynamic classroom presence and presentation skills with evidence of interest and success in learning, implementing, and teaching using current and emerging information technologies.
  • Knowledge of best practices in instructional design as applied to in‑person, online, synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and other community members.
  • Commitment to developing deep knowledge in business‑related disciplines.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
  • Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support Entrepreneurial Thought & Action (ET&A); takes thoughtful risks; and embraces new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to achieve results.
