The Opportunity
The Student Success Advisor provides academic and personal advising and case management services to about 375 undergraduate students (actual cohort size fluctuates between semesters). Using a holistic approach, Student Success Advisors empower, educate, and support students from matriculation to graduation.
Responsibilities Academic and Personal Advising- Advise students on course selection, registration, and course options during Education Abroad experiences.
- Develop success and graduation plans with advisees.
- Track student progress by running reports, reviewing the Academic Progress tab, and communicating with students regarding registration, academic policies, grades, and graduation.
- Collaborate with the Registrar on the certification process for undergraduates, including conducting degree audits.
- Provide referrals and support for students experiencing personal matters (e.g., mental and physical health, substance abuse, eating issues, family and relationship concerns, harassment).
- Track and review students who are over- or under-enrolled in courses.
- Approve individual course withdrawal forms.
- Educate students on academic policies and procedures, including the Petition for Exception process.
- Approve and process advanced credit from high school (AP, IB, Swiss Matura, French Baccalaureate, and other college-level coursework) in partnership with the Director, Undergraduate Administration.
- Collaborate with department leadership to approve off-campus courses and review requests for exam excuses in compliance with College policy.
- Refer students to the Center for Career Development for internship and career planning.
- Review requests for leaves of absence and advise students on non-medical and voluntary withdrawals from the College.
- Monitors academic progress of students on academic probation and those returning from an academic suspension.
- Work closely with departmental leadership, the Director of Case Management & CARE Team, and the Associate Vice President, Student Success regarding students of concern.
- Act as a resource for students involved in the College community standards process.
- Support all students and provide opportunities for professional growth; create programming and student development opportunities as needed.
- Work closely with campus partners to address a range of student issues and concerns.
- Accurately and promptly document meetings and notes in the student information system.
- Participate in College-wide committees as designated by the Director of Student Advising & Success.
- Support the efforts of other offices by participating in alumni, admission, undergraduate program, wellness and prevention, learner success, and career development events as designated.

- Education
:
Master’s Degree in Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field (preferred). - Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students in an advising or coaching capacity.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to and empathy with the developmental needs of today’s college students.
- Ability to work with ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse students, staff, and faculty.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Workday, and Salesforce or other student information systems.
- Ability to use student information and data to provide individualized advising, support student success interventions, and implement targeted programming.
- Flexibility to assume new tasks and special projects.
- Capability to manage a student crisis and follow up with all appropriate parties.
- Vision to propose new methods, take thoughtful risks, and embrace change; willingness to acquire new skills and adapt to changing conditions.
Requires occasional evening and weekend work throughout the academic year. Requires onsite work for a minimum of two days a week (with increased onsite days during the fall and spring semesters). The on-campus requirement is subject to modification based on organizational need.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and is a temporary short-term exempt role (August 3rd – November 13th) with a monthly hiring range of $5,816–$6,463. It includes paid sick leave where required by law; eligibility, accrual, and usage follow applicable state and local regulations.
