Opportunity
The Student Success Advisor provides academic and personal advising and case management services to about 375 undergraduate students (actual cohort size fluctuates between semesters). Using a holistic approach, Student Success Advisors work to empower, educate, and support students from matriculation to graduation.
Academic Advising- Advise students on course selection and registration.
- Develop success and graduation plans with advisees.
- Track student progress by running reports, reviewing Academic Progress tabs, analyzing student data, and communicating with students regarding registration, academic policies, grades, and graduation.
- Collaborate with the Registrar on the certification process for undergraduates, including conducting degree audits.
- Educate students on academic policies and procedures, including the Petition for Exception process.
- Approve and process advanced credit from high school (AP, IB, Swiss Matura, French Baccalaureate, and other college-level coursework) in partnership with the Director of Undergraduate Administration.
- Collaborate with department leadership to approve off‑campus courses.
- Review requests for exam excuses in compliance with College policy and issue approvals or denials as appropriate.
- Refer students to the Center for Career Development for internship and career planning.
- Review requests for leaves of absence and advise students on non‑medical and voluntary withdrawals from the College.
- Monitor academic progress of students on academic probation and those returning from an academic suspension.
- Work closely with departmental leadership, the Director of Case Management & CARE Team, and the Associate Vice President of Student Success to address students of concern.
- Act as a resource for students involved in the College community standards process.
- Provide referrals and appropriate support for students experiencing personal matters that affect them (e.g., mental or physical health, substance abuse, eating issues, family or relationship concerns, harassment).
- Accurately and promptly document meetings and notes in the student information system.
- Participate in College‑wide committees as designated by the Director of Student Advising & Success.
- Support the efforts of other offices by participating in alumni, admission, undergraduate program, wellness and prevention, learner success, and career development events as designated.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.
- Requires occasional evening and weekend work throughout the academic year.
- Requires on‑site work for a minimum of two days a week, with additional days during the fall and spring semesters (subject to modification). This position is also designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
- This is a temporary short‑term exempt position with a monthly salary range of USD 5,816–6,463. The position includes paid sick leave where required by law.
