Position SummaryThe ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with varying needs and backgrounds. The candidate is expected to commit to excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration, and professional development. Adjunct faculty are expected to deliver course materials in a learner‑centered environment conducive to engaging students in the learning process, communicate consistently and effectively with students, faculty, and administrators, and respond to communications within 24 hours.
The faculty member is responsible for managing the course through timely grading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback, and submitting clinical evaluations, attendance, and grades.
- Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course/program requirements and student learning outcomes.
- Use appropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure student understanding.
- Maintain excellent communication with students, department, and division staff throughout the semester.
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in teaching and learning.
- Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates.
- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Master’s degree in Psychology.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Community college experience strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning.
- Demonstrated ability to use information technology effectively.
- Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of affirmative action.
- Experience working in a community college or similar environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need.
- Interest and availability to work day and evening for Spring 2023 and beyond.
- Demonstrated commitment to academic standards, student support, and student learning.
Salary Range: $1,397 - $1,585 per DCE Credit
