THE OPPORTUNITY

The Peer Tutoring Center Innovation & Operations Assistant serves as a student leader who works on projects to advance the effectiveness, efficiency, and continuous improvement of Peer Tutoring Center programs and services. Working closely with professional staff, this position contributes to the development of innovative solutions, operational processes, training initiatives, assessment efforts, and technology-enhanced projects. This role extends beyond traditional administrative support by actively contributing to program development, process improvement, peer tutoring training, resource creation, assessment, and strategic initiatives that enhance the student experience.

WHAT

YOU WILL DO Assessment, Reporting & Data Analysis
  • Assist with exporting, organizing, and analyzing program data.
  • Create reports, visualizations, and summaries to inform decision making.
  • Identify trends and patterns related to student utilization, engagement, and service effectiveness.
  • Support assessment efforts and contribute recommendations based on findings.
Training & Professional Development
  • Assist in developing and updating peer tutor training content, materials and resources.
  • Create guides, handouts, presentations, and workshops to support tutor development.
  • Recommend improvements to onboarding, training, and ongoing staff development processes.
  • Support implementation of best practices related to coaching, communication, professionalism, leadership, and inclusive student support.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve peer tutoring processes, services, and student experiences.
  • Research and recommend innovative practices, tools, and resources that support student learning.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of new initiatives designed to increase student engagement and access to academic support.
  • Contribute ideas and solutions that enhance center operations and effectiveness.
Professionalism
  • Demonstrate professionalism, positivity, and ethical conduct in all interactions.
  • Support an inclusive and welcoming environment for students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Represent the Peer Tutoring Program and Babson College with integrity and professionalism.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
  • Current Babson College student in good academic and disciplinary standing, with strong academic performance.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong verbal, written, and active listening skills, with the ability to explain course concepts clearly and effectively to fellow students.
  • Interest or experience in marketing, branding, social media, event promotion, or student outreach, with the ability to create positive messaging that encourages students to view peer tutoring as a resource for academic excellence and success.
  • Excellent project management, organization, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage deadlines, prioritize multiple tasks, and follow through reliably.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, collaboration, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse constituents.
  • Data analysis, reporting, and technology proficiency, including strong computer skills (advanced excel skills, Power BI, Tableau) and proficiency with platforms such as WCOnline, Canvas, Microsoft 365, and related technologies.
  • Professionalism, accountability, confidentiality, reliability, responsibility, and punctuality in all work-related responsibilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and passion for helping others are fundamental to this role.
