Elementary Title I Reading Paraprofessional

The Elementary Title I Reading Paraprofessional works under the supervision of the Pre K-5 Department Head for Literacy and the Title I Reading Teacher and in collaboration with teachers, Elementary Literacy Specialists, and the Title I Building Principals to actualize the district vision of academic excellence for all students by supporting direct, targeted reading instruction and assessment for students who have been identified through a universal screening process for reading.

The goal of the position is to support the delivery of highly effective, supplemental reading instruction for Title I students in order to ensure that their academic reading achievement meets reading benchmarks according to universal screening and benchmark assessments. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, the Department Head of PreK-5 Literacy and the Building Principals of the Title I School.

Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assists the Title I teacher in providing research and evidence-based, targeted, direct instruction in small groups for Title I students.
• Reinforces the learning of literacy skills introduced by the Title I Reading Teacher or classroom teachers.
• Tracks and monitors Title I student reading achievement and progress.
• Collaborates with the Title I Reading Teacher, PK-5 Department Head for Literacy and the school's literacy specialists to analyze and utilize data to inform daily instructional planning.
• Collaborates to administer universal screening processes, benchmark assessments, and individual student progress monitoring procedures for Title I students.
• Assists in fulfilling all Title I requirements and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education preferred.
• MA DESE Licensure in Reading, all Grade Levels or similar licensure such as MA DESE Elementary Licensure 1-6; MA DESE Moderate Special Needs Licensure PK-8; or MA DESE Licensure ESL PK-6, held or in process preferred
• Basic knowledge of evidence-based reading curriculum and instructional methodology, as well as universal screening, benchmark assessments and progress monitoring.

Salary:
Salary commensurate with the terms of the WEA Unit C Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is a FY26 Title I grant funded position. This position for the month of September 2026 only and concludes commensurate with the terms of the FY26 Title I Grant.
