Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educationalcommunityandhave a desire and ability toserve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. This is a part-time, student employment position with no benefits. The STEM Outreach Student Assistant will assist with STEM outreach, recruitment and onboarding activities to community member sand to high school students that connect them to Mass Bay’s career and technical education (CTE) programs, supporting secondary–postsecondary linkages.

Key

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Recruit new students to our STEM programs at Mass Bay, specifically focusing onhigh school juniors and seniors;
  • Hosthigh school groups at Mass Bay, recruit/represent Mass Bay STEM Division onhigh school campuses and staff STEM, College and Career Fairs and other community events at various venues in the region;
  • Represent Mass Bay  as a student representative and speak about your experiences withthe college/STEM Division at internal and external events;
  • Facilitate hands-on STEM activities with prospective students;
  • Reporton activities and assist with general administrative tasks;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Mass Bay STEM student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher;
  • Consistent and reliable work habits;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to work with populations from varied backgrounds;
  • Strong oral/written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affinity;
  • Experience working ina community college or similar environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need.

Salary Range: $19 per hour
