Located in Greater Boston, Mass Bay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position Summary:

Mass Bay Community College seeks qualified part time instructors for future semesters to teach Early College and early college-related courses in first-year composition in high schools within our service area, including, but not limited to Framingham, Waltham, and Milford.
The ideal candidate willjoin a vibrant educational community, and have a desire and ability to serve apopulation of students with various needs and backgrounds. The candidate is expected to commit to excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professional development. Adjunct faculty are expected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environment conductive to engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member inthis position communicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty and administrators, and responds to communications within a 24 hour period oftime.

The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timely grading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback with assignments, and submission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

Our adjunct instructors hold amaster’s degree in a related discipline and have obtained appropriate certification and/or licensure where applicable. Early College Pathways adjunct instructors must be committed to working with high school-aged students and to teaching college classes in high schools across the region and/or at one of theMassBay campus locations. Early College Pathways adjunct instructors will attend an Early College faculty orientation and participate in ongoing professional development throughout the year.

Please note:

Teaching schedules may vary by school district but are primarily daytime hours between 7:00 am to4:00 pm, with some limited availability of late afternoon/early evening orweekend assignments.

Key

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Teach dual enrollment high school students in area high schools, including Framingham, Waltham, and/or Milford;
• Provide instruction during high school hours of operation when necessary;
• Work in collaboration with Mass Bay and/or high school faculty and others to prepare syllabi and develop curricula in alignment with the vision and needs of the College, high schools and early college initiatives;
• Meet regularly at the posted class times and teach assigned courses using effective instructional strategies that promote student learning and preparation;
• Use appropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure student understanding in line with accreditation and College standards;
• Engage in professional development activities to learn current practices concerning education generally as well as early college initiatives;
• Utilize the appropriate learning management system for either the College or high school as needed;
• Attend meetings and submit reports or information as requested consistent with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement;
