We are seeking compassionate, motivated individuals to join our Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Training Program.
This program is designed for candidates who are passionate about patient care and interested in beginning a meaningful career in healthcare. Participants will receive structured training, hands‑on clinical experience, and mentorship to develop the skills necessary to provide high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a hospital setting.
Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will transition into a PCA role, supporting nursing staff by assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring patients, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain direct patient care experience and grow within a dynamic healthcare organization.
No prior hospital experience is required—just a strong work ethic, empathy, and a commitment to learning.
Job SummaryUnder the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN), a member of the interdisciplinary health care team assists in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.
Does this position require Patient Care? Yes
Essential Functions- Perform patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, feeding patients, etc. Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required.
- Ensure that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change.
- Perform specimen collection and documents all appropriate information.
- Retrieve equipment from other areas, set up equipment, clean equipment between patient use, and report malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
- Document patient information, such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results.
- Assist patients with food tray setup and eating if necessary.
- Communicate with nursing staff in an effective and timely manner around issues related to patient care and patient condition.
- Receive and direct Medical Staff, personnel, patients, and visitors.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.
Licenses and Credentials:
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred;
Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] preferred.
Experience:
Healthcare experience 1-2 years required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to multitask and handle stress crisis situations effectively; demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology; demonstrated typing skills and computer experience; good interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills; ability to lift and transport patients using the appropriate physical technique in a safe manner for the patient and self according to Safe Patient Handling Guidelines.
