Utility Worker (3rd Shift)

OverviewThe Utility Worker is responsible for relocating furniture and equipment within and between campus locations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO- Relocate furniture and equipment within and between campus locations.
- Support all event requirements.
- Provide relief coverage for custodial schedules as required.
- Pick up trash and recyclables from designated locations and remove them to appropriate processing sites.
- Notify supervisor of equipment or vehicles needing repair or replacement.
- Operate motor vehicles and forklift with high lift (Genie).
- Assist other department group members, coordinate moves and event support, participate in snow removal activities to maintain campus operations.
- Support office and Residence halls with furniture replacement moves.
- Perform project work such as stripping floors, carpet shampooing, operating auto scrubbers on floors, and delivering supplies to locations on campus.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.
Valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License, with an insurable driving history. Must successfully complete and pass the Babson College vehicle training program within the first 30–60 days of employment.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT- Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; hazardous chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme heat.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Usually moderate noise level.
- Operate a motor vehicle on a daily basis.
- Use hands to finger, handle, feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to lie down, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and smell.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Regularly climb and/or balance up to 10 feet; occasionally up to 20 feet.
- Regular use of close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must possess or obtain a 1C Hoisting operator's license; attend safety training as required.
- Minimum of three years of custodial experience.
- Must be able to follow written instructions and diagrams.
- Ability to function well in a team/community environment, displaying common courtesies and politeness.
- Frequently interacts with students, teachers, co‑workers, administrators and government officials.
Non‑exempt position, hourly rate of $30.85. Position includes paid sick leave where required by law. Eligibility, accrual, and usage will follow applicable state and local regulations.
SCHEDULEMonday – Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (3rd Shift).
