THE OPPORTUNITY
The Executive Director of the Bertarelli Institute for Family Entrepreneurship is responsible for building Babson’s Family Entrepreneurship brand and practice, leading campus initiatives, developing, implementing and scaling programs that support the education of family entrepreneurs, and representing the Institute externally. The role focuses on creating a global brand and presence for Babson in family entrepreneurship, scaling existing and new programming for students, supporting impactful research on family entrepreneurship, and serving as a connection point for Babson family business alumni, students, and their families.
The Executive Director will collaborate with the Blank School Centers and Institutes Leadership team, the Distinguished Professor of Family Entrepreneurship, the Bertarelli Institute Advisory Board, the Global Family Entrepreneurship Network (GFEN) Board, and other Babson faculty and staff to extend Babson’s founding mission and amplify the capacity of enterprising families around the world.
WHAT YOU WILL DOProvide strategic direction and leadership toward achieving the Institute’s mission and goals in alignment with the College’s objectives. Oversee day‑to‑day operations, lead development and delivery of signature programs, manage the budget, and pursue financial sustainability through revenue generation and fundraising. Anticipate challenges and take appropriate action without supervision.
Collaborate closely with Babson College units—such as the Center and Institute Executive Directors, President’s Office, Admissions, Undergraduate School, Graduate School, Executive Education, Advancement, Student Affairs, Alumni Affairs, College Marketing, and Babson Academy—as well as corporate sponsors to advance shared objectives. Identify and execute revenue‑generating programs that build Babson’s Family Entrepreneurship brand and keep the Institute self‑sustainable.
Oversee the coordination of co‑curricular and curricular activities, including the Family Entrepreneurship Amplifier Program, Peer Forums, Live Case Study series, Networking by Industry groups, Family Entrepreneurship Week, the Amplifier Family conference, and the Family Entrepreneurship Mentor Program. Interface with students, alumni, faculty, development, and other campus staff for successful execution.
Execute the annual Babson Campus Global Family Entrepreneurship Award, including awardee recruitment, media generation, and event creation. Build and mentor a volunteer team of Executives in Residence, forum moderators, and research fellows. Conduct research and produce live case studies, thought leadership pieces, and media outreach.
Build strategic alliances with external programs, organizations, and associations such as the Family Firm Institute and Family Entrepreneurship Research Conference. Work with the Advancement team to identify and pursue funding opportunities, engage alumni, parents, sponsors, foundations, and other stakeholders to drive giving, and develop relationships to optimize annual giving plans so that programming, research, and events are endowed. Serve as the Institute spokesperson at conferences and events, representing BIFE and Babson externally.
Manage the annual budget, P/L, and financial updates, collaborating with the Finance team to ensure accountability and oversight of the Institute’s budget management process. Leverage institutional resources to capture, track, and analyze critical information on the family entrepreneurship community, including engagement and outcome metrics.
Partner with College Marketing and the Blank School program delivery team on communications, PR, and thought leadership strategy; deliver newsletters, website content, social media strategies, and digital marketing efforts.
