Workshop Engineer (Forklifts)

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 (DOE) + Overtime (1.5x)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Company

Interaction Technical is working in partnership with a well‑established and growing material handling company with a strong presence across the UK. Known for delivering high‑quality handling and access solutions, they are expanding their workshop team and looking for an experienced Forklift Engineer.

The Role

Based at the Wellingborough site, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a range of forklift trucks and plant machinery within a workshop environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing, and completing repairs on forklift and plant equipment
  • Conducting pre‑delivery inspections (PDI) on new and used machinery
  • Carrying out mechanical and electrical fault finding
  • Working on key systems including:
    • Engines
    • Batteries
    • Hydraulics
    • Pneumatics
  • Reconditioning and preparing equipment for hire or resale
  • Completing job sheets and service records accurately
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working in the plant, agricultural, HGV or material handling industries (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems (essential)
  • Experience with engines and battery‑powered equipment
  • Solid fault finding, service, and repair skills
  • NVQ / City & Guilds in mechanical/electrical engineering (advantageous)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
