Position Overview
2026‑27 80% Temporary Teacher – Elementary – Music – Rice Elementary School (Wellington, Colorado)
Schedule:
Monday–Thursday, 7:55 AM–3:33 PM.
Start date:
August 10, 2026. Duration: 90 days or more of temporary coverage on the 188‑day teacher calendar.
- Develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, individualized instruction plans, classroom materials, lesson plans, and learning activities.
- Instruct students in large, small, and one‑on‑one settings.
- Administer, edit, proofread, and grade assignments and assessments.
- Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity, supervise behavior and wellbeing, and administer discipline when appropriate.
- Design assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways; use data to give meaningful feedback and modify instruction.
- Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation related to academic, social, and emotional progress.
- Communicate students’ progress and needs with parents/guardians and other staff as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Demonstrate commitment to understanding, appreciating, and accommodating student diversity; include and engage families; support district policies and procedures; provide personal and professional excellence.
- Participate in department, team, building, and district meetings; student family conferences; social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities; and professional growth opportunities.
- Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and completion of a proper teaching licensure program.
- Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements; CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.
- Experience instructing students in a classroom setting preferred.
- Strong oral, written, and English language communication skills.
- Critical thinking, problem‑solving, and mathematical skills.
- Bilingual communication skills preferred.
- Ability to work supportively with other teachers, staff, and administrators.
- Ability to communicate with students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members.
- Ability to work in a team, maintain confidentiality, manage multiple priorities, and adhere to attendance requirements.
- Knowledge of and experience with personal computers, Microsoft Office, educational technology, and office equipment.
