Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and deliver a data-driven, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate school counseling program based on the ASCA National Model.
  • Provide individual and small group counseling to support academic, career, and social-emotional development.
  • Deliver classroom guidance lessons aligned with ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors for Student Success (K-12).
  • Respond to student crises and refer to appropriate professionals or agencies.
  • Support student transitions, including registration and grade-level changes.
  • Assist students and families with educational and/or career planning.
  • Foster staff and family growth opportunities and contribute to a positive school culture that respects diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Facilitate problem-solving skills and conflict resolution.
  • Understand and utilize current job-related technology.
  • Collaborate with administrators, parents/guardians, staff, and community partners on student needs and concerns; develop and implement academic and/or behavior plans and interventions.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, include and engage families in education, and uphold PSD policies and expectations.
  • Participate in departmental, team, building, and district meetings; attend student and family conferences and other meetings; engage in school activities; pursue professional growth.
  • Attend work regularly and arrive in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Education and Experience

    Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field and licensure program required. Experience working with students in a school setting is required; experience counseling students in a school setting is preferred.

    Licenses, Registrations, Certifications
    • Criminal background check required for hire.
    • Valid Colorado driver’s license.
    • Valid Colorado Special Services license with School Counselor or related endorsement required.
    • CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.
    Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
    • Oral and written communication skills;
      English language proficiency; interpersonal skills.
    • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and ability to work with diverse populations.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities and tasks with frequent interruptions.
    • Bilingual abilities preferred.
    • Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, administrators, students, families, and community members.
    • Commitment to safety, policy adherence, and ethical conduct.
    • Ability to maintain a positive, collaborative learning environment.
